Vintage Antique Patterns

Welcome to a collection of old free vintage and antique crochet patterns! Lots of thread lace work and written instructions for doilies, place mats, bed spreads, slippers, shawls, purses, scarves, hats, and more. Use the directory below or go to: Free Vintage Crochet Patterns for each one individually.

It is amazing how a book use to cost 5 to 10 cents. The goal is to photograph and retype at least 1 a week but sometimes I get busy. So, please be patient as I build this up and enjoy.

A NOTE ABOUT CROCHET THREADS:
Over the years these cotton threads have changed and you can replace the material with a size 10 or a lighter thread for a thinner piece. Some of the heavier place mats you can try a size 3 as materials called for in these vintage books no longer exist. Hobby Lobby's Artiste Egyptian cotton crochet thread size 10 is lighter than Aunt Lydia's. So you could use Hobby Lobby's for a finer look. There are still places that sell finer sizes - Herrschners) who carry DMC Cordonnet 50 to 3 threads, JoAnns carries DMC Cebelia 20 to 30 and higher.
