Clarks ONT Mercerized Bedspread Cotton:

* Single Size Spread: 52 balls of white, ecru, cream or any other color

* Double Size Spread: 69 balls of white, ecru, cream or any other color

J & P Coats Bedspread Cotton:

* Single Size Spread: 45 balls of white, ecru, cream or any other color

* Double Size Spread: 57 balls of white, ecru, cream or any other color

Would use size 10 crochet thread and probably assume the balls were small to calculate out total needed.

Size 7 steel crochet hook

Motif measures approximately 7 inches square

FIRST MOTIF:

Starting at center, ch 2.

1st Round: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Do not join rnd.

2nd Round: 2 sc in each sc around.

3rd Round: Repeat 2nd rnd, then join with sl st to first sc (24 sc).

4th Round: Ch 3 - to count as 1 dc, 2 dc in joining, (ch 1, skip next sk, 3 dc in next sc) 11 times; ch 1. Join to top of ch 3 (12 petals started).

5th Round: Ch 3, dc in next 2 dc, (ch 1, dc in next 3 dc) 11 times; ch 1. Join as before.

6th Round: Ch 3, 3 dc in next dc, dc in next dc, (ch 1, dc in next dc, 3 dc in next dc, dc in next dc) 11 times; ch 1. Join.

7th Round: Ch 3, * making 3 dc in center dc, dc in each dc across petal, ch 1,Repeat from * around. Join.

8th Round: Ch 3, * dc in each dc across petal, ch 1. Repeat from * around. Join.

9th and 10th Rounds: Repeat 7th and 8th rounds.

11th Round: Ch 3, * (dc in each dc across petal, ch 2) twice; dc in each dc across nest petal, ch 5, dtr in next sp, ch 5 (corner). Repeat from * around. Join.

12th Round: Ch 3, * (making a cluster over center 3 dc, dc in each dc across petal, ch 2, dc in next sp, ch 2) twice; To make a cluster work as follows: holding back on hook the last loop of each dc, dc in 3 dc, thread over and draw through all loops on hook; making a cluster over center 3 dc, dc in each dc across petal, ch 4, in corner dtr make 3 dtr, ch 3, and 3 dtr, ch 4. Single Size Spread make 11 x 16 motifs or Double Size Spread make 14 x 16 motifs joining motifs as Second Motif was joined to First Motif (where corners meet, join corners so previous joinings).


BORDER:

1st Round: Attach thread in any corner loop, ch 1, sc in same loop, * * ch 7, * (sc in next loop, ch 7) 10 times; sc in joining between motifs, ch 7. Repeat from * across to within next corner loop, sc in corner loop. Repeat from * * around, ending with ch 3, tr in first sc to form last loop.

2nd Round: Ch 1, sc in loop just formed, * ch 7, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around, ending as on 1st rnd.

3rd Round:  Ch 1, sc in loop just formed, * * ch 7, in corner loop make sc, ch 7 and sc; * ch 7, sc in next loop. Repeat from * across to within next corner loop. Repeat from * * around, ending with ch 7. Join to first sc. Cut thread and fasten off.

Weave in ends.
