This bedspread measures 72 x 92 inches and is made with 200 hexagonal motifs and is sized to fit a three-quarter bed. To adjust the size, add or subtract motifs.
15 balls of crochet cotton thread (550 yard ball)
Size 6 steel crochet hook, or size to obtain gauge
Guage: Diameter of finished motif is 4 inches from corner to corner.
With 1 strand of thread, ch 6, sl st to form ring.
Round 1: Ch 2, 15 dc in ring. (Note: Hereafter, do not join at ends of round).
Round 2: 2 dc in top of ch 2, 2 dc in each dc around - 32 dc's.
Round 3: * Dc in first dc, 2 dc in next dc. Rep from * around - 48 dc's.
Round 4: * Ch 3, skip 1 dc, dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc; 7 dc in next dc, drop hook from work, insert hook front to back in first dc of 7-dc group and draw dropped loop through, ch 1 tightly - popcorn (pc) made. Dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc. Repeat from * around.
Round 5: * Ch 3, dc in first dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in each of next 2 dc, 2 dc in the ch 1 of popcorn, dc in each of the next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc. Rep from * around.
Round 6: * Ch 3, dc in first dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc, popcorn in next dc, dc in each of next 4 dc, popcorn in next dc, dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc. Rep from * around.
Round 7: * Ch 5, dc in first dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in each of next 10 sts, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc. Rep from * around, ending with sl st to beg round. Fasten off.
Make 200 motifs. With right side facing, match hexagon sides and crochet motifs together into strips. Make sufficient strips for the width of the bedspread, then crochet strips together.
Tassels: Cut 18 pieces of thread, measuring 7 inches long. Fold each thread in half; pull looped end through ch 5 sp on outer edge of bedspread, then pull cut ends through to knot tassel. Trim ends evenly.
