1984 Crochet Lace Square Pillow Free Pattern

Finished size of pillow is approximately 12 inches square, excluding border.

1984 Crochet Thread Lace Square Pillow Home Decor Pattern




MATERIALS:
Coats and Clark Crochet Thread (400 yards) 1 ball
Size 4 steel crochet hook
12-inch square pillow form
Fabric for covering pillow form

Note: Post triple crochet (trc): Work trc around post of st from back to front to back.

Beginning at center, ch 6. Sl st to form ring.

Round 1: Ch 4 for first trc, 3 trc in ring, * ch 3, 4 trc in ring. Rep from * twice more, ending with ch 3, join to top of beg ch 4; turn.

Round 2: Sl st in next 2 chs, ch 4, turn; 2 trc in same corner sp, * post trc in next 4 trc; in next corner sp work 3 trc, ch 3, 3 trc. Rep from * twice more, ending with post trc in next 4 trc, 3 trc in corner sp, ch 3, join to top of beg ch 4; turn.

Round 3 through 8: Sl st in next 2 ch, ch 4 turn; 2 tr in same corner sp, * post trc in each trc to next corner, in corner sp work 3 trc, ch 3, 3 trc. Rep from *twice more, ending with post trc in each trc to corner, 3 trc in last corner sp, ch 3, join to top of beg ch - 46 trc on each side of Round 8.

Round 9: Sc around post of trc (ch 4) below join, * sc around post of each trc to corner, ch 3 for corner. Rep from * around, join to first sc.

Round 10: Ch 4, trc in each of next 3 sc, * (ch 2, sk 2 dc, trc in each of next 4 sc) 7 times; ch 3 for corner, ** trc in each of next 4 sc. Rep from * three times more, ending last repeat at **; join to top of beg ch; turn.

Round 11: Sl st in next 3 ch, ch 4 turn; in same corner sp work 2 trc, ch 3, 3 trc; * trc in next trc, (ch 2, sk 2 trc, trc in next trc, 2 trc in ch 2 sp, trc in next trc) 7 times; ch 2, sk 2 trc, ** trc in next trc; in corner sp work 3 trc, ch 3, 3 rc, rep from * 3 times more, ending last repeat at **; join to top of beg ch 4.

Round 12 through 16: Sl st i n next 2 trc (for Rounds 13 - 16, sl st in next 3 trc); ch 4, in corner sp work 3 trc, ch 3, 3 trc, rc in next trc, (ch 2, sk 2 trc, trc in next trc, 2 trc in ch sp, trc in next trc) 8 times; ch 2, sk 2 trc, ** trc in next trc; in corner work 3 trc, ch 3, 3 trc, rep from * three times more, ending the last repeat at **; join to top of beg ch.

NOTE: In Rounds 13 - 16, the number of times to rep between ()s increases 1 more time for each round.

Round 17: Ch 3 for first dc, post dc in each of next 3 sts, * in corner sp work 4 dc, ch 2, 4 dc; (post dc in each of next 4 sts, 2 dc in ch sp) to corner. Rep from * around, eliminating last corner on last rep; join to top of ch 3. Cut thread and finish off.

Round 18: (picot round): Join thread in any corner sp, ch 1, sc in same sp, (ch 4, sc in second ch from hook) 3 times; ch 2, sc in same corner sp - picot corner made; * sc in each of next 5 dc, (ch 4, sc in second ch from hook) 3 times; ch 2. Rep from * to next corner, work picot corner as before. Continue around remaining 3 sides with pattern established; join and fasten off.

Finishing:
Cut two 16 inch fabric squares; cut a strip of fabric 4 yards long and 6 inches wide for ruffle; stitch short ends together. Fold strip in hale with wrong sides together; run gathering stitch 1/2 inch from raw edge and gather to fit the fabric square. Sew ruffle in place (1/2 inch seams). With ight sides facing, sew two squares together on three sides. Attached crochet piece to one side of pillow top. Insert pillow form; hand sew fourth sides together.
