For Two Panels:

13 (50 grams) Size 10 crochet thread
Size 8 steel crochet hook or size to obtain gauge
2 yards of 1//12 inch wide grosgrain ribbon
Gauge: 7 horizontal sps = 2 inches; 8 vertical sps = 2 inches.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Not on filet crochet: Each shaded square on the chart, below, represents 1 block (bl). A single bl is 4 dc wide; adjacent bls are 3 dc wide. (For example, 2 adjacent blocks would be 7 dc wide; 3 adjacent blocks would be 10 dc wide). Ch 3 at the beg of each row counts as 1 dc.
Each open square on the chart represents 1 space (sp). A single sp is (dc, ch 2, ck 2 sts, dc in next st). Adjacent sps are (ch 2, sk 2 sts, dc in next st).

The curved lines in the center of the diamond pattern represent lace stitches. The first lace begins with a dc (the last dc of a bl), ch 5, sk 2 st, dc in next st (the first dc of a bl). In the next row the design continues with two ch 5 loops and is worked as follows: Dc, ch 5, sc in ch 5 loop, ch 5, sk 3 sts, dc in next st. Each additional row is worked in the same manner, inc or dec the number of ch 5 loops and sc's as indicated on the chart.

CURTAINS:
Foundation Row: Beg at top edge, ch 257, dc in fourth and in each ch across; ch 3 turn - 255 dc.
News 3 Rows: Dc in each dc across; ch 3 turn. Now begin to work form chart.
Row 1 and all odd numbered rows: Work across row from A to C, (work from B to C) twice; work from C to D to complete row.
Row 2 and all even numbered rows: Work across from D to B, (work from C to B) twice; work from B to A to complete row. To adjust width of curtain, add or subtract number of repeats in center.

For length of curtain, work first 17 rows as given below. Rep Rows 4 through 17 thirteen times more, or for length desired less 4 1/2 inches. Be sure to work through the complete set of pattern rows. Finish the lower edge (Rows 18-33) according o the chart.

Final Row: Dc in next 4 dc, ch 3, rep across * across. Fasten off.

FINISHING:

Sew grosgrain ribbon along the top edge of the curtain, along lines of first row of dc. Slide the curtain rod under the ribbon and stitch the ribbon in place, allowing for ease around the rod.
