NOTE: Considering the size hook used, I'd be tempted to use Aunt Lydia's size 3 crochet thread
Size 10 Cotton Crochet Thread:
3 balls of color of your choice See Note About Threads
and 1 White
Number 2/0 Steel Crochet Hook (double 0)
Starting at long side with COLOR, make a chain 16 inches long.
ROW 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across until row measures 16 inches, having an even number of sc.
ROW 2: Draw a loop of WHITE through loop on hook and, working with the COLOR, skip first 2 sc, dc in next sc, * drop COLOR, pick up WHITE and, woking in back of COLOR dc, make dc in sc preceding sc where last dc was made (cross st made), drop WHITE, pick up COLOR, skip next sc, dc in next sc. Repeat from * across to within last sc, make COLOR dc in next sc. Ch 1 turn. Cut off WHITE.
ROW 3: Sc in each dc across, sc in top of turning chain. Ch 2, turn.
Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows alternately until piece measures 10 inches, ending with Row 3.
1st Round: 3 sc in first sc (corner), sc closely around, making 3 sc in each corner.
2nd, 3rd and 4th Rounds: Sc in each sc around, making 3 sc in center sc of each corner. At end of 4th round, sl st in next sc.
Cut thread, weave in ends and block to measurements.
