Measures approximately: 12 x 18 inches

MATERIALS:
NOTE: Considering the size hook used, I'd be tempted to use Aunt Lydias size 3 crochet thread
6 balls size 10 cotton crochet thread  See Note About Threads
Size 2/0 (double 0) crochet hook

Starting at center, make a chain 6 inches long, having an even number in chains.

1st Round: 4 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across, 4 sc in last ch; now, working across opposite side of starting ch, make sc in each ch across. Join with sl to first sc.

2nd Round: Ch 1, in same place as sl st make sc, half dc and dc (group st made); make a group st in each of the next 3 sc, * skip next sc, make a group st in next sc. Repeat from * across to within 4 sc group at other end. Make a group st in each sc of the 4 sc group, skip next sc, make a group st in next sc, continue in pattern across. Join to first sc.

3rd Round: Ch 1, picking up back loop only of each sc, make 3 sc in first sc (1 sc increased), 2 sc in next sc of each of next 3 group sts (3 more sc increased), make 2 sc in sc of each group st across to within 4 group sts on other rounded end, 3 sc in each sc of next 4 group sts, 2 sc in each remaining group st. Join.

4th Round: Ch 1, make a group st in same place as sl st and in next sc, (skip next sc, make a group st in each of the next 2 sc) 3 times; * skip next sc, make a group st in next sc. Repeat from * around, working across other rounded end as before. Join.

5th Round. Ch 1, picking up back loop only of each sc, make 3 sc in each sc of first 8 group sts (8 sc increased), make 2 sc in each group st around, increasing 8 sc evenly across other rounded end. Join.

6th Round: Ch 1, make a group st in same place as sl st, * skip next sc, make a group st in next sc. Repeat from * around. Join.

7th Round: Ch 1, picking up back loop only of each sc, make 2 sc in sc of each group st around, increasing 8 sc evenly across each rounded end. Join.

Repeat 6th and 7th rounds alternately until piece measures 12 x 18 inches, ending with 7th round. Turn, sl st in each sc around.

Join and cut thread. Weave in ends and block to measurements.
