Starched Doily 1949 Free Vintage Crochet Pattern






Materials

Size 30 cotton crochet thread:
5 small balls white, 1 blue and red.  See Note About Threads
Size 10 crochet hook

Starting at center with white, ch 10. Join with sl st to form ring.

1st Rnd: Ch 3, 2 dc in ring, (ch 2, 3 dc in ring) 5 times; ch 2, sl st in top of ch 3.

2nd Rnd: Sl st in next 2 dc and in next sp, ch 3, in same sp make 2 dc, ch 2 and 3 dc (shell made); * ch 2, in next sp make 3 dc, ch 2 and 3 dc (another shell made). Repeat from * around. Join as before.

3rd Rnd: Sl st in next 2 dc and in next sp, ch 3, in same sp make 2 dc, ch 2 and 3 dc (shell made over shell) * ch 5, in sp of next shell make 3 dc, ch 2 and 3 dc ( another shell made over shell). Repeat from * around. Join.

4th Rnd: * Shell over shell, ch 7. Repeat from * around. Join.

5th Rnd: * Shell over shell, ch 5, working over next chain and chain below, sc in next sp on 3rd rnd, ch 5. Repeat from * around. Join.

6th Rnd: * Shell over shell, ch 2, 3 dc in next sp, ch 3, 3 dc in next sp, ch 2. Repeat from * around. Join.

7th Rnd: *Shell over shell, ch 5, skip next sp, shell in next sp, ch 5. Repeat from * around. Join.

8th Rnd: * Shell over shell, ch 5, working over next chain and chain below, sc in next sp on 6th rnd, ch 5. Repeat from * around. Join.

9th Rnd: * Shell over shell, (ch 3, 3 dc in next sp) twice; ch 3. Repeat from * around. Join.

10th rnd: * Shell over shell, ch 5, skip next sp, shell in next sp, ch 5. Repeat from * around. Join.

11th Rnd: * Shell over shell; ch 4, working over next chain and chain below, sc in next sp on 9th rnd, ch 4. Repeat from * around. Join.

12th Rnd: * Shell over shell, ch 4.  Repeat from * around. Join.

13th Rnd: * Shell over shell, ch 5. Repeat from * around. Join.

14th Rnd: * Shell over shell, ch 3, working over next chain and chain below, sc in next sp on 12th rnd, ch 3. Repeat from * around. Join.

15th Rnd: Shell over shell, ch 6. Repeat from * around. Join.

16th Rnd: Shell over shell, ch 7. Repeat from * around. Join.

17th Rnd: Shell over shell, ch 4, working over next chain and chain below, sc in next sp on 15th rnd, ch 4. Repeat from * around. Join.

18th Rnd: * Shell over shell, (sh 3, 3 dc in next sp) twice; ch 3. Repeat from * around. Join.

RUFFLE: 1st Rnd: Sl st in next dc and between this and the following dc, ch 3, * 6 dc in next sp, dc between first and 2nd dc of next 3-dc group, dc between 2nd and 3rd dc of same dc-group. Repeat from * around. Join.

2nd through 9th Rnds: Ch 4 * dc in next sp between dc's, ch 1.  Repeat from * around. Join. Break off at end of 9th rnd.

10th Rnd: Attach blue to any sp, ch 4, * tr in next sp, ch 1.  Repeat from * around. Join. Break off.

11th Rnd: Attach red and work as for previous rnd. Join and break off.

12th Rnd: Attach blue to any sp, sc in same sp, * ch 6, sc in 5th ch from hook (picot made), ch 1, skip next sp, sc in next sp.  Repeat from * around. Join and break off. Starch lightly and press.
