Drawstring Bag 1949 Free Vintage Crochet Pattern
Steel crochet hook No. 1
Materials called for Dritz Luxury Bleastraw, 1 tube each of colors A and B. I'm not sure what this yarn is but from the photo it looks kind of like a size 3 cotton crochet thread or probably use a yarn that will fit the no. 1 size hook.
BOTTOM: Starting at center with color A, ch 4. Join with sl st to form ring.
1st Rnd: 12 sc in ring. Mark last st of every rnd to insure proper shaping. Hereafter work in back loop only of each st.
2nd Rnd: * Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc. Repeat from * around (18 sc).
3rd Rnd: * Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc. Repeat from * around (30 sc) Continue thus increasing 6 sc evenly on every rnd until there are 120 sc. Work 1 rnd even.
SIDE: 1st Rnd: * 3 sc in next sc, sc in 4 sc, (insert hook in next sc and pull loop through) 3 times; thread over and draw through all 4 loops on hook (2 sc decreased); sc in 4 sc. Repeat from * around.
Insert hook in next sc and pull loop through, drop color A and draw a loop of color B through 2 loops on hook. Always change color in this way.
2nd Rnd: Repeat first rnd.
3rd Rnd: Sc in next sc, * 3 sc in next sc (point), sc in 4 sc, make a decrease as before over next 3 sts, sc in 4 sc. Repeat from * around. Make 2 more rnds of color B, 3 rnds of color A, 2 rnds color B, 1 rnd color A, 1 rnd color B. Break off color B.
CUFF: 1st Rnd: With color A, ch 4, * skip 1 sc, dc in front loop of next sc, ch 1. Repeat from * around, joining last ch-1 with sl st in 3rd st of starting ch 4.
2nd Rnd: Sl st in next sp, ch 4, *dc in next sp, ch 1. Repeat from * around. Join.
3rd Rnd: Repeat 2nd rnd. Break off.
4th Rnd: With wrong side of dc's facing, attach color B in any dc, ch 1, sc in same place where yarn was attached, * ch 3, sc in 3rd ch from hook (picot made), sc in next ch, sc in next dc, sc in next ch, picot, sc in next dc, sc in next ch, sc in next dc. Repeat from * around. Join and break off.
DRAWSTRING: (Make 2): With color A, make a chain 24 inches long. Break off. Run drawstrings in opposite directions through 1st row of beading. Fasten ends of each drawstring.
