6 Shades Of Red Blanket Free Vintage Crochet Pattern

6 shades of red blanket is a free vintage crochet pattern. You can substitute this color for other colors in this 1949 afghan.






MATERIALS: For afghan about 54" x 60": Knitting worster yarn 2(4-0z.) skeins color A (sunset rust), 3 skeind color B (scarlet), 4 skeins color C (cardinal), 3 skeins color D (red wine) 3 skeins color E (garnet), 2 skeins color F (maroon); steel crhchet hook Number 0.

GAUGE: 5 sts - 1:

Starting at one end with color F, ch 334.

1st ROW: Sc in first 16 ch, * 3 sc in next ch, sc in nect 11 ch, skip 2 ch, sc in next 11 ch. Repeat from * 11 times more, ending with 3 sc in next ch, then sc in next 16 ch. Ch 1, turn.

2nd ROW: Skip 1 st, sc in back loop of next 16 sts, * 3 sc in back loop of next st, sc in back loop of next 11 sts, skip 2 st, sc in back loop of next 11 sts. Repeat from * 11 times more, ending with 3 sc in back loop of next st, sc in back loop of next 16 sts. Ch 1, turn. Repeat 2nd row for pattern, working stripes as follows: (from start) * 4 rows color F, 4 rows color E, 4 rows color D, 4 rows color C, 4 rows color B, 4 rows color A, 4 rows color B, 4 rows color C, 4 rows color D, 4 rows color E. Repeat pattern from * 4 times more (40 rows), then work 4 rows color F.

SIDE EDGES: With color C, work 2 sc in each ch 1 on each side.
