1949 Cat’s Paw Scarf Free Vintage Crochet Pattern

1949 Cat’s Paw Scarf Free Vintage Crochet Pattern. A beautiful scarf - one end slips into a made loop behind the other end.






MATERIALS: Sports Yarn 1 (2-oz) ball will make 2 scarves. Bone crochet hook No 4

Work in back loop of stitch throughout.

Make a chain about 30 inches long

1st Row: Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 18 ch, 3 sc in next ch, sc in next 19 ch, skip 1 ch, sl st in next 10 ch, sc in each st across to within 41 sts of end, skip 1 ch, sc in next 19 ch, 3 sc in next ch, sc in next 18 ch, skip 1 ch, sl st in next ch. Ch 1, turn.

2nd Row: Skip 1 st, sl st in next st, sc in next 18 sc, 3 sc in center of 3-sc group, sc in next 19 sts, skip 1 st, sc across row to sl st group, sl st in next 10 sts, skip 1 st, sc in next 19 sts, 3 sc in center of 3-sc group, sc in next 18 sts, skip 1 st, sl st in next st, Ch 1, turn.

3rd Row: Skip 1 st, sl st in next st, sc in next 18 sts, 3 sc in center sc of 3-sc group, sc in next 19 sts, skip 1 st, sl st in next 10 sl at, sc in each st across to within 20 sts of 3-sc group, skip 1 st, sc in next 19 sts, 3 sc in center sc of 3-sc group, sc in next 18 sts, skip 1 st, sl st in next st. Ch 1, turn.

Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows until 1 rows in all are don this side of starting chain. Break off. Work same number of rows on other side of starting ch. Sc around bow ends.

TO MAKE SLIT:
Ch 10
1st Row: Working in back loop only, sl st in each ch across. Ch 1 turn.

2nd Row: Sl st in each st across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat this row 17 times in all. Sew each end of piece just completed to scarf on back of slip-stitch part of scarf. Pull other end of scarf through slit.
